Giving Something Back 2017

2017 marks the 5th Anniversary of the establishment of Bibby Financial Services (Singapore) Pte Ltd (Bibby Singapore). The company has chosen to celebrate the milestone with the needies by giving food bundles to 75 households in a low income estate, mostly elderly living alone without family.

The charity event was held on 17 Nov 2017 (Friday) jointly with The Food Bank Singapore Ltd, a registered charity organization strives to bridge the gap in the market by collecting surplus food in the market and providing it to organizations and people in need of food. 

“We felt that food wastage in Singapore has been increasing year after year due to the growing population and economic activity. Also, due to the aging population, many elderly who lives in the low income estates have no other family members to take care of them. Instead of disposing these food at the waste to energy plants, why not donate these food to the needies who can’t even afford a meal at the hawker centre?” said Alan Wong, Managing Director of Bibby Singapore.

All staffs in Bibby Singapore took part in the event, from packing different foods into the bags to distributing to the households, even carrying the bags to the homes of those disabled elderly. The team was very happy to be part of this meaningful activity and glad to have a chance to interact with the elderly. This also encouraged elderly to get out of their home, take in some fresh air and socialize, and move their muscles.

“Bibby Singapore celebrated her 5th year anniversary by giving something back to the community. This event gave us the opportunity to do something meaningful and at the same time allowed our staff to enjoy good fun and bonding! We are looking forward to organize another one next year.” Alan Wong added.
